🙋🏻♂️Do you use technology to help you unwind? I do, because sometimes it’s the only option we get.
🥾Would I rather take a walk or read a book to unwind? Often times, yes! But it’s rare that I have that time on a busy weeknight.
😩For default parents especially, free time is really time spent doing household tasks.
🤯If we can’t offload those tasks, we can at least make those tasks more enjoyable and technology can help with that.
🔥If you were to see me making dinner you’d see me doing 5 things at once while trying to chat with my kiddo, while I have one earbud in.
🔥Some might say that use of technology is lazy, or making us dissociate, but often it’s really giving us a second to catch our breath and do something for ourselves WHILE we complete household tasks.
💪🏼Having the time, access, and support for a true break is a privilege. Sometimes that break looks more like half watching Selling the OC and pretending we’re on vacation.
🤯And taking those small moments aided by tech means when I sit down at the dinner table, I’m a better and more present parent for my kid. Everyone wins.
🤔And if someone takes issue with that, my question would be: how are you using your power to increase systemic supports for families so they can meet their needs?
What’s your favorite half-watch show? Tell me in the comments!
