Did you have Book It! where you lived as a kid?
I actually don't remember participating in this program, but I do remember hearing about it.
Book It! was a program started in 1985 by Pizza Hut, to reward kids who met classroom reading goals with a free personal pan pizza.
And now, Book It! is back as an app. We downloaded it and found it super easy to use, plus my kiddo loves the dancing pizza when you meet your monthly goal.
When we ordered WB's free pizza in the app (see the video to see how) they also got to experience walking into the store and requesting their order. The employee there was SO kind and made sure WB knew they had done a great job with their reading.
I don't personally love rewards for things that I want kids to enjoy for their own sake, AND I recognize that if a kiddo is struggling to build that internal enjoyment of reading, or if they already have it, or if maybe they could benefit from a reliable "special" food like take out pizza, those can all be good things.
So if you're looking for some nostalgia and an excuse to get some pizza, give this a try! Keep in mind you can't redeem your reward until the following month, so there is some delayed gratification practice embedded in this as well :)
